Request Furnace Service

“As someone who has a background in a skilled trade, I appreciate the fact Randy pays attention to details and not only had concerns about the functionality of the new furnace but made sure it was aesthetically pleasing as well. To the point that rather than utilizing an existing drain line, he upgraded us to a pump system that he could run out of sight at no charge.”

Most Common Heating and Furnace Problems

  • My furnace starts and stops.

When your furnace turns off, and on frequently, it's known as short cycling. This constant starting and stopping can damage the furnace and is a sign that it is not efficiently heating your home. An inefficient furnace is a huge money-sucker, but an easy fix may exist. Short cycling can indicate anything from a blocked air vent to an improperly sized unit to a furnace working too hard and overheating. The only way to get a clear answer is to have a professional HVAC technician inspect your system.

  • My furnace won't turn on.

A furnace that won’t turn on is a significant concern for homeowners, especially in winter. This could result from a tripped circuit breaker or an indication of an issue with the unit itself. Many modern furnaces have automatic safety shutdowns that will turn off the machine when there is an issue. If you cannot diagnose the problem yourself, it's best to call a local furnace technician who can.

  • My heater is blowing cold air.

Most homeowners have experienced walking by a vent and feeling an unexpected rush of cold air. A few things may happen if your furnace seems to be blowing cold air rather than hot. The answer may be as simple as your furnace needing time to warm up for a few minutes—kind of like when you first turn the heater on in your car. Or you may have a clogged air filter. There may be other issues at play, though. Heat may escape through a leaky duct before it reaches the vent, or your furnace may automatically shut down due to overheating, which several things can cause. If your heater system frequently blows cold air, we’d be happy to diagnose the problem and find a solution.

  • My furnace is making a loud noise.

Furnaces can make various noises, from pinging to screeching to booming. Often, a trained ear can hear these sounds and pinpoint a problem. Many people are intimidated by their furnaces, especially when they are making new and unusual noises. Thankfully, these scary noises are typically a warning sign that something is amiss, not an indicator of a total blowout. If your furnace is making noise, call us for a diagnostic inspection.

  • My furnace is leaking water.

Found a puddle of water at the bottom of your furnace? A few issues could be causing this, but most are simple fixes! Certain furnaces pull heat from moisture in the air, and that excess moisture drains through a pump or a floor drain. If either of these becomes clogged, water can pool at the base of your furnace. If your unit includes a humidifier, the water pump leading to the humidifier may also be blocked or broken. A few other issues may cause water to leak around your furnace. Because leaking water can cause mold and moisture damage, it's essential to address the problem as soon as you detect it.
